Unloading with Dollie!
April 14, 2005

Yes, the first pallet (we tried to hold back our amusement when the delivery driver asked us if we had a forklift he could use to take it off the truck!!.....we quickly added one to our wish list!!!) of the Grand Veneur "Les Champauvins" has arrived and is ready to pick up.  BUT, a reminder the store is closed Thursday, April 14th - so we may attend a tasting in San Francisco.  Come by the store Friday or Saturday to sample this excellent value from the Southern Rhone Valley's suberb 2003 vintage!   Don't despair if you have not ordered, as another batch of this elixir is due to arrive next Tuesday.....the driver should be relieved to see our new loading dock in the back alley.....NOT!  It should be priced above $17, but is NOW ONLY $13.75 a bottle.  If you have been too busy to read or you have been "accidentally" deleting my emails and need to reference, please go to the webstore at www.thewineconsultant.com and access the email newsletter archive (April 6 - Affordable 90 & April 8 - Grand Veneur.)

Here are a couple of new arrivals that might entice you to place a quick little order!

2002 Ponzi Reserve Pinot Noir - Willamette Valley, Oregon - $49.95 - NOW $45.50 ("regular" 2002 bottling received 94 pts from WS) - Focus, precision, purity of fruit, delineation and depth are a few of the terms that come to mind when describing this masterfully made wine. Harmoniously balanced and a lengthy finish bode well for cellaring potential.

2001 Quilceda Creek - Columbia Valley Red - Washington - $39.95 - NOW $35.50   "Quilceda's second label is a gorgeous wine, supple and sweet with lovely cabernet cassis and smooth hints of licorice and chocolate. Though not as concentrated as the cabernet, it is immediately delicious, and would put to shame most wines in its price category." 92 points from the Wine Enthusiast

2003 SOLITUDE CHARDONNAY - Carneros - $25.50 - NOW $22.50  - ATTENTION ALL ROMBAUER FANS.....Here is the chardonnay to help with the withdrawals!!!   Solitude is a little drier than the currently sold out 2003 Rombauer (2004 will be released in August), but find solace that this wine is smooth and viscous with redolent tropical fruit, butter tones and even a little coconut creme brulee!  More appealing to my taste and a better value too!  STOCK UP FOR THE WARM WEATHER!

Also, did I mention I have an extra 24 bottles available of the 2001 Dunn Howell Mtn. Cabernet Sauvignon?  Everyone who purchased the 2001 Napa Valley got first right to purchase the Howell Mtn.  Randy Dunn "honored me with a couple of bonus cases!  $79.95 a bottle/$179.95 for a magnum.
Robert Parker 94-96 (12/2003), and just reported in his latest issue - 93 points.
