Final Thoughts For 2005.....
December 28, 2005

I am not surprised at the interest many of you have shown regarding our trip to Australia and New Zealand.  Yes, we will be offering recommendations and links to accommodations, restaurants and wineries upon our return.  After arriving in Sydney, we will fly to Adelaide where our itinerary first focuses on the wine producing regions of Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, and McLaren Vale in South Australia.  Then we spend about a week on the island of Tasmania to survey emerging regions in the south, along the east coast, and the Tamar Valley in the north.  In New Zealand, our interest and energy will be directed to the Central Otago region near Queenstown on the south island.  This area is reknown for producing world class Pinot Noir and aromatic white wines.  Finally, we will spend our final days on Waiheke Island, about a 40 minute ferry ride off the coast of Auckland in the more temperate north, to explore some of the 30 plus vineyards to emerge since 1978.  Our desire is to become more learned about each growing place and, of course, satiate our palates!  But most importantly, we hope our foraging will discover some new wines to procure for your table or cellar.....and I am able to convince my wife to return with me to the USA!!

So as a final reminder, please pickup all wine orders no later than December 31st.  The store will be closed from January 1st and not reopen until Tuesday, January 31st.

As is my end of year custom, selected "Should've Bin Wines" (that is, wines that should have been sold by now!) will be priced with DISCOUNTS UP TO 25% for those of you who venture into the store this week.
BIG SAVINGS ON HIGH QUALITY WINES AT EVERY PRICE POINT!!  Of course, limited to stock on hand!  Look for the green price sticker-

Final thoughts-

Is that all there is?  Yes, that's it for 2005.  Great values like the Sacred Stone, Grand Veneur "Les Champauvins", and Aristi Familia Melipal Malbec!  New discoveries like the Alto Moncayo and El Nido Clio from Spain.  Promise of even better things to come from west coast producers Audelssa, Parador, Abacela, and Fidelitas.  Great expectations fulfilled by Lewis Cellars, O' Shaughnessy, Shafer and Mantra,  And the legendary 2000 and 2001 vintages of Barolo....hope you have some!!

The world is a big place!  Here is a toast to peace on earth, health, happiness, corkscrews and oyster knives!

Thank you for your confidence and continued support.  It is our pleasure to have the opportunity to serve you!

Happy New Year!
