Peaks' new white label, reserve cuvee 2006
"Oyster Ridge" have been produced, and trust

few bottles! Using the finest parcels from
Ancient Peaks' Margarita Vineyard, winemaker Mike Sinor
has artistically composed a proprietary masterpiece with
an unusual blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (35%), Petite
Sirah (35%), Syrah (23%), and Zinfandel (7%). Given the
moniker "Oyster Ridge" for the fossilized large white
oyster shells that litter a seismically uplifted
vineyard block, Sinor must be quietly exalting over the
alluring charms of his best winemaking, not to discount
the amazing potential he has found from a special place
in the far reaches of southern Paso Robles called
Margarita Vineyard.
The dark brooding color of
this "Oyster Ridge" draws your immediate attention.
Soft, redolent aromas of black berry fruits, spicy
crimson rose petals, and a touch of charcoal beckon to
you to hurry and taste. Yes, the promised and obvious
black berry fruits have been assembled, but intriguing
hints of black fig, anise, soy, and a balsamic note add
complexity. On point and perfectly balanced, the palate
is seamless with an elegant texture. Finely integrated,
but firm tannins lengthen the finish, and promise the
option of reward if you wish to cellar another five to
eight years.
