Bodegas LAN was founded in 1975 and
named after the intials of the three provinces in the
Rioja Designation of Origin: Logroño (now La Rioja), Álava and Navarra.
For the third consecutive
year, a Bodegas LAN wine has
been selected among the "Top 100
Wines of the Year" by Wine
Spectator. Previously, the
wines have been sourced from the
estate's single vineyard Pago El
Rincón", and designated as "Edicion
Limitada"; the 04 was ranked #18 (96 pts.), and the
03 was ranked #56 (94 pts). Additionally, the 04
LAN "Culmen" Reserva scored 96
points from Wine Spectator, but was not ranked
among the Top 100 in 2008.

This 2004 Rioja is
composed primarily of 80% Tempranillo, and blended
with 10% Mazuela (Carignan), and 10% Garnacha
(Grenache). The wines are aged in American and
French oak barrels for at least 12 months, and then rest
for another two years in bottle before
release. Many of you have discovered the virtues of
Tempranillo are very appealing for those
with a palate for Cabernet Sauvignon. You will not
find a better wine value that combines maximum
enjoyment for everyday drinking, or the option
to cellar over the next 4-5
