production wine with a serious track record of successful reviews by
the Wine Spectator or Robert Parker. Believe it or not, this is a
thriving practice among some wine collectors. In fact, some
small wineries are seriously considering participation at these auction
websites as an alternative marketing practice. Instead of offering its
most sought after wines to mailing list customers and selected
merchants, why not maximize profits by offering the wines to a larger
group of interested consumers (greater demand) and let the highest
bidders determine the final sale price?!! Free enterprise! Wineries
have observed their "hard-to-get" wine going for extravagant prices
above and beyond the retail price they established! Why should

Dalla
Valle Cabernet Sauvignon - With a saturated purple color and
aromas of raspberry and blueberry, the 2000 Cabernet is intense,
balanced and extremely forward. These aromatics quickly perfume the
room once a glass is poured -- ripe berries, mocha, toasted malt,
sandalwood incense and molasses. The sweet, high-toned nose is
followed by a palate that nicely reflects the elegant refinement found
year in and year out in our Cabernet. The forwardness and richness of
flavor make this wine exceptionally enjoyable now, while the strong
core of tannins portends great promise in the future. Aged in 50% new
French oak, blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. - $105.95
Dalla
Valle MAYA - The 2000 vintage of MAYA is deep, opaque
black/purple in color and immediately floral-- complex violets and
jasmine abound from the significant contribution of Cabernet Franc.
Ripe blackberries, blackcurrants, forest floor, coffee, caramel, and
dark chocolate from beginning to end. The first sip is mouthfilling
and generous, followed by a lingering, demonstrative and powerful
texture. This wine is sure to impress over a long span of aging and is
another superb example of this treasured proprietary blend that
epitomizes the greatness of Dalla Valle Vineyards. Aged in 70% new
French oak, blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Cabernet Franc. - $295 (450 cases)
I have always received a
"generous" allocation of Dalla Valle Vineyards' wines since I opened
the store in 1990. My intention is to only offer Dalla Valle wines to
my customers and hope they are passionate enough about the wine to
never want to sell it! A toast to Naoko Dalla Valle for another
