Barbara's Fish Trap
Small, rustic restaurant on pilings
overlooking the shoreline in
Princeton-by-the-Sea. Perfect lunch spot for
great clam chowder, fish 'n chips, local
fresh catch including sand dabs! Large
portions. Cash only. Bring your own wine, or
order beer.
Right off Highway 1 as you approach HMB, this is
the place for fresh seafood. Great outdoor setting
perched on the cliff overlooking the local harbor.
Shellfish platters, oyster stew, gumbo,
lobster roll, grilled sardines are menu
highlights. But don't miss the authentic New
England Lobster Clam Bake for two at dinner! We
like to grab a couple of the many adirondack chairs on
the deck for cocktails.
Craving really good Italian! Terrific house
made pastas, pizza, and main courses showing off
the local fresh seasonal bounty. Extensive,
but expensive Italian wine list. $25 corkage so
bring something special. Recommend for
Dinner.
This has always been our primary dining destination
when we visit the area. On our last visit we were
looking forward to trying the
creative Cal-Med cuisine of new French chef
Sylvain Montassier. However, the intrusive
noise from a large wedding party in the back of the
restaurant so interferred with the dining room's
normally quiet ambiance we had to leave after
being seated. We were very disappointed, and
wondered why the restaurant would create an
unpleasant situation to conflict with the enjoyment
of its dining customers? Guess it needed the
extra money? Large and diverse wine list with many
global selections. Corkage is $20
(limit two bottles), and is waived
for each bottle purchased from the wine
list.
This old road house tavern has been operating in
the small town of Pescadero since
1894. Although the locals all know about it, the
secret is out as it was recently featured in the
Food Network's program Diners, Drive-ins, and
Dives. I would include it in the latter category,
but will also tell you it's worth the drive and the
money! Known for its cream of artichoke and
green chile soups (can be served half & half),
oyster po' boy, cioppino, and amazing homemade berry and
fruit pies. Make reservations, but be prepared to wait
on weekends. We like it for lunch. Wine list
focuses on the local Santa Cruz Mountain wineries.
$10 corkage, but expect your wine to be
served in thick-rimmed Libby glassware.
We always hear great things about this restaurant,
but have not yet checked it out. Closed on
Mondays. Just north of HMB in Granada.
Purisima Creek Trail in the
