The domain was founded by Marcel Michel in 1966. Since 1979 Marie José and Marcel's son Lucien Michel have managed the property.

The domain covers 14 hectares in Chateauneuf-du Pape. Only one hectare is planted to white varietals. The proprietary red blend is typically composed of 75% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre and 5% Cinsault. The vinification process is traditional. After the fermentation the red wine spends about 6 months in cement tank and then about 12 months in foudres. Only one cuvée of each the red and white Chateauneuf du Pape are produced.

The 2005 vintage was the Wine Spectator's #3 Wine/2007 Top 100.

"Slightly firm, with junpier, sage and sandalwood hints framing dark plum, currant, coffee and mineral notes. The grippy finish has a cedar note in the background, with hints of black tea and tar. A gutsy style, with fresh acidity in reserve. Best from 2009 through 2028. 4,330 cases made." –JM - 93 ooints, Wine Spectator
